When SSQ hits the state you should expect a lot of singing, and very little talking. We do not come to preach, but sing. He should expect a program geared very much toward making an enjoyable evening of laughter, well rehearsed music, and a message in song that God still reigns A "tribute" is an expression of honor, respect, or high regard. So, it's no coincidence the name Tribute Quartet so aptly fits these men and their mission to honor the music, singers, and Spiritual messages that have so definitively shaped gospel music down through the years Bob's ultimate dream was to move to Jim Bakker’s Morningside Community. We visited there a few weeks ago, and we stopped and prayed there on the grounds that God would grant Bob’s wish. But instead, God took him to a better place. He will be missed Whether it be the piano player acting crazy, or one of us trying to make the other one laugh, it's always interesting. We've been able to bridge the generation gap with a mixture of good songs, and humor to keep old and young people coming to see us. When Grannie Bishop wasn't able to come hear us sing at church because of her health, we recorded an album so she could still hear her son and grandsons sing.  Bands and live music were not what made this music so popular. This genre has NEVER been based on the band. It's always been based on vocals and harmony. Why do you think that we called them "All Night Sings" for years?
 Rarely in the history of hymnology has a composer been led to Christ by his own song, but such was the case with Ray Overholt. God literally picked him up out of the darkness and confusion of the nightclubs and brought him under his loving care

I have found in my experience that those who proclaim themselves as leaders seldom are. Self proclamation or position does not a leader make. A leader is made by those who follow. A leader does not lead until his followers are willing and able to follow.

I must give kudos to Southern Gospel music for holding to the truth that we have a Burden Bearer. Tried and true songs with lyrics like, "Leave them there, leave them there, take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there…"
Being part of fan communities can be rewarding… and life changing. You meet lots of people, find long-lasting friendships, important networking contacts, and even discover talents and interests you never knew you had
In your daily life, live in the shadows more. Take a break. Enjoy your success. If it be raising a good child, cleaning your entire house, or taking over your musical dreams, stop and be thankful. Slow down and heal.
Poor Jim has either been on the road and worried about me, or at home trying to be both nursemaid and housekeeper when resting up from the road life was what he needed and deserved. It has caused me to think a lot about the vows we gave to one another on our wedding day, "in sickness and in health"
artists need to be careful to not elevate certain fans over others. In many cases, fans know each other and can be very perceptive. They can pick up on it when it looks like an artist is playing to an audience of one or two where it's actually a full house
All breathing is natural, but when you sing you need to take advantage of the most natural, although somewhat less obvious, parts of breathing that enhance your ease of singing, tone quality, and duration of time that you can sing without wearing out
People who are talented at several things usually have quite a problem deciding what they should do for God's kingdom. If they attempt to do things for God in an area that the Holy Spirit has not called them to do, then it will be of little effect
Over a span of two decades the songs of Gordon Jensen have been recorded more than 2,000 times, and have been translated into fifteen languages. In an interview in July, 2001, I asked Gordon to tell me how he came to write "I Should Have Been Crucified."

In Southern Gospel Music, the most glaring illustrations of houses built on sand are the myriad SG artists who are trying to build a career using inferior songs. I’m talking about groups going into the studio to create a CD with little or no regard to song selection
